Before you start the making process, create the blueprint which design do you want. Now, cut the wood pieces exactly at the measurement that you wanted. Use screws to attach the pieces. Some parts may require to apply wood glue. Use sandpapers to make the exterior smooth. Once it is done, attach the foam on top and cover it with fabric.

Using an Ordinary Chair

If you don’t want to do the work from scratch, the thing you can do is, take an ordinary chair from your home. Now you have to replace some parts of the chair. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws. Imagine which shape do you want to give the rocking chair. Bring some wooden pieces for curved leg support. Connect the pieces and attach the leg support to the chair. Attach some memory foam on top and cover with fabric, and it is ready to use as a rocking chair.

Rocking Chair with Plywood

If your kid is in between 0 to 6 months, he/she doesn’t require a heavy chair. In that case, you can use plywood for the construction. This is budget-friendly and easy to cut. Order some larger plywood from online or from a local shop. Design the outlook on paper and start the process. You can use a hand saw for cutting the boards in the proper measurement. Now, use some wood glue to attach the parts. Make sure that you are keeping enough space on top for sitting. Make the supporting frame slightly curved and set the main structure on it. Cover the seat with foam and fabric and you are ready to go.

Convert Your Single Sofa into a Rocking Chair

If you have a single sofa at home which you are not using for a long while, you can convert it into a rocking chair for the nursery. If the foam is ok, don’t replace it. Change the top cover and use something soft and comfortable there. Remove the ordinary legs from it. Make the bottom support in your own style with wood. You can also make it with steel. Attach it to the seat and it will be a comfortable homemade rocking chair.

Rocking Chair with Fabric

Attach a heavy fabric to the frame, make sure it is remaining stable to the frame and you are ready to use the rocking chair for your nursery.
